ROTFIX
ROTFIX
is a two-part penetrating epoxy wood hardener. It waterproofs and reinforces
wood after it penetrates and hardens. It is 100% active ingredient with
no fillers or thinners. It is part of the Total Wood Restoration System
for regenerating rotted windows, doors, boats and ships, beams, posts,
logs and columns. It also reinforces, waterproofs and hardens wood.
ROTFIX is to be used after the rot has been removed and the remaining
wood treated with borate based wood preservative.
Application:
Apply to affected area with mixing/applicator squeeze bottle, syringe,
brush or roller. The wood must be dry. Repeat if necessary. You cannot
use too much. Make sure all surfaces are coated. No thinning is necessary.
However, in cooler temperatures and to increase penetration with reduced
viscosity, it can be thinned with acetone.
Technique: An easy method is to apply the ROTFIX from the
mixing bottle and brush it out with a small paintbrush. Make small batches,
just a few ounces at a time. Make sure all surfaces being repaired get
coated with at least one heavy coat. Have a small container of sand
nearby and pour any unused ROTFIX into the sand to avoid curing
in the bottle. Warm weather TIP: When temperatures outside are above
80 degrees, keep the A and B components in an ice chest. Otherwise,
when components are hot, they can react and harden in 5 minutes or less
- before you have a chance to use them. Heat accelerates the curing
process. Cold Weather TIP: When it is cold outside, cure times can take
many times longer. Warm the components to room temperature or keep them
in an inside pocket of your coat to accelerate cure times. TIP: Use
a hair dryer or heat gun to warm the bare wood prior to application
and then keep the repair warm for several minutes after application.
