TWP®
100 SERIES - This is the most versatile product we have to offer. It
can be applied at temperatures as low as 50 F, and it is compatible with
all forms of log home chinking. It is solvent borne and contains about
30% solids. It penetrates the wood and is easy to maintain.
TWP® 100 has
been through the rigors of long term exposure testing at Texas A&M's Forestry
Service and was the only product of the 200 products tested there that
demonstrated superior performance. Texas A&M's Forestry Service said "The
TWP® finish lasts about 5
years and may be the best way of maintaining an attractive natural wood
look". That's a bold statement for an independent testing lab to make.
See the Deck and Fence section of this site for the full letter.
Coverage - Approximately
200 square feet per gallon. If a second coat is desired, it must be applied
while the first coat is still wet. Wood Care Systems does not recommend
a second coat on decks but a second coat is best on vertical applications
like siding and logs. Two coats are recommended one immediately after
the other. If you can't do two coats wet on wet, then wait a year and
apply the second coat. If two coats are applied to a deck more that an
hour apart, the second coat will probably sit on top of the first coat
building a film that can peel in time. Applying the second coat while
the first coat is still wet provides additional penetration and protection
for a few more months, but is not absolutely necessary.
TWP® 100 Series is

welcome to stop in without an appointment. TWP® is a registered trademark

New Wood: Smooth, mill planed wood should be pre-treated with TWP®
New Wood Surface Conditioner
when natural weathering (to open wood grain) is not practical. Rough sawn
surfaces must complete two cycles of water soaking and thorough drying.
Before finish application. Kiln dried pressure treated wood may be pre-treated
with "TWP® Wood Surface Conditioner"
and finish coated with TWP® after 48 hour dry time.
All surfaces must be dry before applying TWP® finishes. Wet, or freshly
pressure treated wood should be allowed 12 months natural weathering before
finish coat application.
OLD WOOD: Unprotected old wood is typically various shades of gray
to black. This is due to mildew and ultraviolet light attack on the wood
surface. Remove mildew and dirt with TWP® Wood surface cleaner
as per directions. For severe discoloration, rinse with a 1500 psi power
washer for best results.
PREVIOUSLY STAINED WOOD: TWP®
is designed for application on clean wood surfaces. Applying this product
over a sealed surface will result in a glossy film. TWP®
will function best if old finish is removed.
SPREAD RATE: Apply at 100 - 300 square feet per gallon. Rate will
vary depending on wood porosity. First coat should be a saturation coat.
A second coat if desired must be applied immediately after the first coat,
in a wet on wet application.
METHOD OF APPLICATION: Use brush, roll or spray. Do not apply below
32 degrees.
CLEANUP:
Use mineral spirits for equipment. MIX THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING. TINTS
AND FUNGICIDES TEND TO SETTLE TO THE BOTTOM SO RE-MIX EVERY HOUR OR SO
DURING APPLICATION.
